Each year we host a joyful Children's Day celebration — a day of food, fun, and unforgettable smiles for children who need to know they are treasured.
Every child deserves to feel loved, celebrated, and special. Children's Day is our annual declaration that these children matter.
Since our founding in 2006, Five Plus Two Ministries has hosted more than 12 Children's Day events — joyful, vibrant celebrations where children from vulnerable communities are welcomed, fed, and made to feel like the most important people in the room.
Each child who attends receives a Bible-verse t-shirt, a KFC meal, and a bucket of sweets. Simple gifts, but ones that linger in the memory long after the day is done. Many of these children come from homes where celebration is rare. For a day, they get to simply be children — to laugh, play, and experience the uncomplicated joy of being chosen.
The event is organised and run by a dedicated team of volunteers who give their time, energy, and hearts. It is one of the most joyful days on our calendar — and one of the most important. Children carry what they experience. A day that tells them they are loved plants a seed that can grow for a lifetime.
Children's Day is a celebration. But it is also a statement: these children are seen, valued, and worth celebrating.

How it works
Children from the Zoé House community and surrounding neighbourhood are invited. Volunteers prepare the venue, gather supplies, and create a festive, welcoming environment. Every detail is arranged to make children feel expected and special.
The day includes games, activities, and time for children to simply be children. A KFC meal is served — a treat that many of these children rarely experience. There is laughter, noise, and the particular kind of energy that only a room full of joyful children can produce.
Each child receives a Bible-verse t-shirt and a bucket of sweets to take home. These are more than gifts — they are a reminder. A wearable, tangible token that says: you were here, you mattered, and you are loved.
Making memories
Volunteers give more than their time — they give their hearts. Each one-on-one moment tells a child that they matter.
Lives changed
I have volunteered at Children's Day for three years now, and every time I think I know what to expect, a child surprises me. Last year a little boy — maybe seven years old — walked in holding his mother's hand, very quiet. By the end of the day he was running around, grinning, not wanting to leave. He held onto his t-shirt the whole way home. The smiles are worth everything.

Get involved
Cover the cost of one child's full Children's Day experience — t-shirt, KFC meal, and sweets. A single gift ensures one more child goes home knowing they were celebrated.
We welcome donations of sweets, party supplies, craft materials, and other items that make the day special. Businesses willing to donate KFC vouchers or sponsor meals are especially welcome to reach out.
Join a team that helps set up, run activities, serve food, and ensure every child feels welcome. Children's Day is one of our most joyful events — and it runs entirely on the energy of willing volunteers.
