"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord — plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

A teenager in Hartbeespoort without support doesn't just face a difficult year — they face a lifetime of closed doors. We open those doors, one young person at a time.

The Teen Empowerment program is built on a simple conviction: every young person deserves someone in their corner. Over more than five years, Five Plus Two Ministries has walked alongside school-aged children and matriculants, helping them navigate the challenges of education, career choices, and life transitions.

We have supported six matriculants — covering fees, sourcing supplies, finding mentors, and celebrating with them at graduation. For many of these young people, finishing school was never a given. It required someone to believe in them before they believed in themselves.

Beyond matric support, we help young people find scholarships, bursaries, and career opportunities. For those who enter the workforce directly, we provide guidance and connections to give them the best possible start. For those in difficult home situations, we offer a steady, trusted presence during some of the hardest years of their lives.

This is not just about grades. It is about dignity, identity, and purpose — giving teenagers the tools and the belief to write a different story for themselves.

How it works

Walking alongside young people

01

Identify & Connect

We identify teenagers in need through our community network, Zoé House referrals, and local schools. We build a relationship of trust before we offer any practical support.

02

Support Education

We cover school fees, provide stationery and textbooks, and connect students to bursaries and scholarships that would otherwise be unknown to them and their families.

03

Open Doors

After matric — or if a student chooses to enter the workforce — we help with job applications, CV writing, career guidance, and connecting them with employment opportunities.

From the field

Six matriculants and counting

When a teenage girl in Hartbeespoort had no means to complete her matric, Five Plus Two stepped in — covering fees, supplies, and providing a mentor to walk alongside her. She matriculated with distinction. Five others have followed. The program continues to find scholarships and opportunities for young people at critical crossroads in their lives.
